Hello again, Collecting vintage radios is one of the most exciting hobbies I ever experienced. It’s bringing togetherhistory, nostalgia and a joyfully spending of your free time. Every time when you’re adding a “new” radio to your collection it’s like welcoming a new member of the family. Did you ever notice that every radio has his own “smell”? Putting your new treasure on steam for the very first time will raise your heartbeat, watching the station scale lighting up, the tubes glowing, waiting for the first noise, hum or even right away music.Close your eyes en enjoy the smell coming from the tubes, enjoy the warm tube sound, the rich basses, the clear high tones. And than, when you are “lucky” the radio is not correctly working and this will lead you into the field of the hobby that I personally like the most. The fixing up, the search for why it’s not working properly, the feeling of the victory when you have managed to locate the failure. Warm up your soldering iron and let the smell of the melting solder bring you into another world, GREAT!! Have a look in my own workshop Does this give you an idea why I am doing this for more than thirty years now? Collecting these old ladies will bring you back into history, back to the time when rest and peace were common things, when live was less hectic, when one was really listening to the radio. The fireplace burning, the whole family gathered around the table with a hot chocolate, listening to Lone Ranger or Green Hornet When you are able to share this experience you will carry the “radio virus” for the rest of your life. So, welcome to the worldwide radio family. HAPPY COLLECTING, Your radio pal, Hans.
